What’s in a name: Constance Communications

Constance: Constancy [ kon-stuhn-see ] noun

Definition: The quality of being unchanging or unwavering, as in purpose, love, or loyalty; firmness of mind; faithfulness.

Prior to graduating from Oregon State University with an English degree and a deep respect for classic literature, I was honored to receive the Hundere Award for Best Essay in Religious Studies for an essay I wrote based on a vibrant and brave woman in literature: Constance, the main character in the whimsical Man of Law’s Tale, a story in Canterbury Tales by Charles Chaucer.

In the story, Constance is banished multiple times and spends years of her life alone on a boat with her young child. Despite the trials she faced, Constance maintains unchanging constancy in her belief in herself, and I admire that.

The photo is an artistic interpretation of Constance with her child.
